Football: Euro 2012 June 8th to July 1st

Poland and Ukraine are the co-hosts for the 14th European Championships which sees the best international teams from the continent compete for the title. With games coming thick and fast in the group stages there is plenty of betting action which we summarise in our review.

Euro 2012: Format and Draw

A total of 16 teams come together for the tournament which is regarded by many football purists as better than the World Cup in terms of quality and competitiveness.

The teams are initially arranged into 4 groups of 4, with the top 2 teams going through into the quarter-finals from each group. Group games take place from 8th June to 19th June.

  • Poland

    Group B:

  • Denmark
  • Germany
  • Netherlands
  • Portugal

    Group C:

  • Croatia
  • Italy
  • Republic of Ireland
  • Spain

    Group D:

  • England
  • France
  • Sweden
  • Ukraine

    Quarter-Finals:

  1. Winner Group A vs. Runner-up Group B – 21st June
  2. Winner Group C vs. Runner-up Group D – 23rd June
  3. Winner Group B vs. Runner-up Group A – 22nd June
  4. Winner Group D vs. Runner-up Group C – 24th June

Semi-Finals:

Winner of Quarter-Final 1 vs. Winner of Quarter-Final 2 – 27th June.
Winner of Quarter-Final 3 vs. Winner of Quarter-Final 4 – 28th June.

The final takes place on 1st July.

The Favourites

Reigning World and European Champions Spain have been installed as the favourites to take the prize and become the first team to retain the European Championship, they are priced at 3.90 with Betfair to do so.

World Cup semi-finalists and beaten finalists from Euro 2008 Germany are priced at 4.20 with Betfair.

Beaten World Cup finalists, the Netherlands, are the third favourites and are priced at 8.00 with Betfair.

France come in as fourth favourites at 11.50 followed by England at 15.50, both with Betfair.
