Betfair Releases New Sports Betting iPhone App

Betfair has announced the launch of it’s mobile sports betting exchange application on the official Apple App Store.

Betfair’s iPhone betting app uses the full features, high resolution screen and multi-touch interface of the handset, making both the application and unit a perfect match. The application is also available for iPod Touch and iPad users.

How is this particular application by Betfair different from the rest? Aside from providing greater speed than a browser-based product, this new application also allows users to study the market, negotiate the live odds of their bets, as well as view in-play betting markets.

Betfair also made sure to focus on how the application is going to make an impact on the user in terms of how easy it would be to navigate. Allowing users to get their bets on simply and generally make the app user-friendly leads to a great customer experience.

In the building of the application, Betfair also had responsible gaming in mind. That is why they used Global Positioning System (GPS) technology to track down and confirm the location of a customer before they can be allowed to bet.

Head of Mobile at Betfair, Charles Palmer said, the new application offers the same functionality as that of the main Betfair site. He also added that Apple’s incredible innovation—the iPhone—has raised the bar in terms of mobile gaming as it allowed Betfair to deliver an industry-first and demonstrate the company’s ability to adapt to new technologies.

More and more users are becoming aware of mobile betting which caused a 50 percent revenue increase for the industry and a 40 percent turn up of registered mobile users particularly for Betfair since 2009. This is a clear indication that mobile betting is slowly becoming a massive industry.

iPhone Betfair App is initially available only in the United Kingdom and Ireland. But with the growing trend and rising demand in sports betting, consumers can expect to have it in the near future.
